Cats can be very laid back throughout the day and some at night. If you do not have a cat bed for them to sleep in of their own, you will often times find them curled up on the nearest bed in the house. They are a lot like humans in the fact that they prefer a soft place to curl up and nap. A great thing to do for your kitty is provide him with his very own cat beds to sleep in.
Cats are very territorial animals. No, they do not bark and pee all over their stuff like a dog. However, once a cat finds a favourite place he will lay his claim on it just the same. They will become very insistent upon staying wherever it is that they would prefer to be. If you do not like your cat hanging out on your bed, the only way that you are going to be able to keep him off of it is by giving him a bed of his own.
There are many different kinds of pet beds on the market. When shopping for one for a cat, keep in mind that cats will often times be partial to a bed that seems to hide them. A cat bed with tall sides such as wicker cat beds will probably work pretty well. In order to get your cat to want to sleep there you may have to do a bit of trickery. If your kitty prefers your bed try placing his bed on top of yours for a few days. This may be enough to get the cat’s interest in sleeping in it.
Another thing that you can try is put the bed in a place of the home that is hidden in a way from the rest of the house. Cats love to be in a place where they think that they can see you, but you cannot see them. Try putting the bed in a corner in a quiet room, or perhaps even in the wardrobe. Providing your beloved kitty with a napping spot of his/her own is a great thing to do. They deserve a bed just like we do and will love it just as much.

There is know mistaking the hacking sound that occurs when cat hair balls are about to enter the picture. Just about every cat owner is familiar with that sound, as well as cleaning up the results. Still, there is more to hairballs than simply a disgusting mass of matted hair and semi-digested food spilled onto the floor.
Not all cat hair balls are harmless. While the cat hairballs that are coughed up onto the floor are disgusting to clean up, they will do little damage aside from potentially leaving a stain on the floor. It is the ones that do not come back up that can potentially pose a problem. While rare, hairballs can potentially become lodged in the stomach or gastrointestinal tract, which can result in serious medical problems for the cat.
You need to be able to recognize the signs of a stuck hairball. If your cat suddenly loses interest in food or becomes lethargic, it is a definite sign that something is wrong. If they stop grooming themselves, their coat will become dry and matted. A definite indicator is the development of hard stools that have visible hair in them.
Do not wait until these symptoms appear to act, however. Do what you can to minimize the development of cat hair balls. Most cat food brands have a variety that is designed to minimize the development of hairballs. They will usually contain additional fats and other lubricants to help the cat hair balls pass harmlessly through the cat system, as well as additives that help dissolve ingested hair.
Cat hairballs are, unfortunately, a common occurrence for many cat owners. This is especially the case with owners of long-haired breeds like Persian cats. While they are harmless much of the time, they can potentially become serious if they are left lodged in the stomach or intestines. Do what you can to prevent them, and both you and your cat will have a happier life together.
