A fabric tub chair is a good alternative to leather chairs. While they may not be as luxurious, they are still comfortable and, if the right style is picked, will greatly enhance the look of any room. But, just like any other piece of furniture, fabric chairs need to be maintained regularly to ensure that they will still look like new for years to come. Here are some tips on how to maintain fabric chairs.

First, you have to clean your fabric tub chair regularly. Start by vacuuming the chair thoroughly to remove dust; use a vacuum attachment to get at hard-to-reach places. Then, use a stain remover to remove any spot stains before washing the chair.

Second, wash the chair with a mixture of laundry detergent and warm water; use around ¼ cup of detergent for every cup of water. Whip the mixture in a blender until the suds form peaks. Then apply it to the chair with a clean cloth. Let the mixture stay for a few minutes while the suds clean off the dirt; make sure that the fabric does not get soaked. Scrape off the dirt with a scraper, and then rinse with a damp cloth. Let the chair dry overnight, preferably with an electric fan pointed on it to speed up the drying process.

You might also want to consider buying a cover for your tub chair. A chair cover will protect the chair from damage and keep it from fading; it will also keep you from having to reupholster the chair frequently. You can buy a stretch cover that will fit many styles of chair or, if you have the budget, you can have a tailored cover made specifically for your chair. Make sure, however, that the cover you get for your chair fits it correctly, because a cover that’s too big may develop wrinkles, creating an unsightly look.
