When having an outdoor kitchen installed, there are a lot of different things to consider as far as the components go that will make up the design of the kitchen. Of course, you will likely go with the standard things like a grill, refrigerator and possibly a sink, but what about drawers and doors?

Many people don’t realize just how many options they have when it comes to their outdoor kitchens. You have probably seen the double doors that go under the grill, but did you know you can combine these with shelves, drawers, or trash pull outs? Well, you can! Most manufacturers that make the stainless steel doors also make different variations of them so you can have the kinds of storage options built in that fit your needs.

By far the most popular thing to do is ust put some doors under the grill, then utilize the open space under the cabinet in any way you choose. if you have a need for a small gas tank, you can get a unit that looks like double doors from the outside, but when you open one of the doors there is a tray that slides in and out. If you have a tank, you can use this as a tank tray. If you have a gas line running into your outdoor kitchen and don’t need a tank, you can use the drawer for a trash pull out. Inside the other door you can have a couple of drawers. This makes for a very different storage opportunity than just having double doors with open space on the inside. neither option is right or wrong, just different and it is up to you to decide which is right for you.

If you are having a sink installed into your outdoor kitchen you probably have a small door under the sink. Inside will be your plumbing connections, and some amount of storage space. This is another chance to add a shelf or drawer if that is the kind of storage space you prefer. keeping your plumbing connections in mind, you don’t want to create a situation where you cannot reach them. But as long as that is nto an issue, you can have a small door that opens and has one or two drawers that pull out.

Keep in kind that when dealing with stainless steel accessories, they are not cheap. The more stainless that goes into a unit, the more expensive it will be. Stainless steel double doors might cost a couple of hundred dollars, while the unit with the doors and drawers all in one might cost several hundred dollars. The bottom line is that while you have a lot of options, you also have to remember to keep price in mind.
