Perfume Review: Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci 0
This Nina Ricci perfume was launched in 2009, and like its predecessor Nina (of two years earlier), it was created with a young feminine target in mind. Unlike Nina perfume though, the image of the woman is no longer magic and innocent, but more spontaneous and daring, and even a little mysterious.
The opening notes are sugary sweet, with an aromatic bergamot in the background and some florals, which give a classic touch.
In the middle phase, after about 30 minutes, the bergamot is still there, but the base is now sweet cream and green notes. When the middle notes have fully developed, the sweet side is now coconut and vanilla, but it becomes less intense, leaving patchouli as the dominant note, together with classic florals like rose.
The patchouli is almost always very intense, smelling almost like the only note (like in Juicy Couture perfume), although sometimes it is mixed with sandalwood. The final notes area again very sweet, leaving all the rest, patchouli and fruits (probably strawberry) in the background. After 8 hours on test paper, a hint of amber and wood was also noticeable.
This fragrance is very well balanced, and is able to take the best out of two extremes: on the one hand the idea of creamy sweet, mainly appreciated by young female consumers, and a classic sensual floral on the other, but without reaching the extremes of some fragrances from the eighties, like Angel perfume by Thierry Mugler.
Although it’s very intense at the beginning, it becomes more relaxed in the second half of its evolution. It’s more suitable for an evening use than for a work environment, especially in formal and semi-informal occasions, like weddings. On the romantic side, this Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci is not particularly seducing, although it doesn’t go unnoticed and it’s very pleasant from a short distance. Age range between 20 and 45 years
