The major problem facing anyone who wants to have a shower install in the bathroom is low water pressure. For a shower to function properly it needs constant water pressure which can increase constant flow of water. There some that have adequate water pressure in the faucet or bath but once you install a shower; you then find out that the pressure is not enough for the shower to function well.
Shower pumps can be installed to increase and regulate the water pressure. It need correct use, care and maintenance to keep your shower pump working properly.
Proper installation and use of shower pump:
Before installing and using a shower pump, you must read the instruction manual of the unit. There are some unit that can be use continuously while some has a maximum 20 minute use and 40 minute shut off between the uses of the shower pump.
Choose correct model for the type of water system you have in the house. Some unit can be installed only with above cold water storage while other can be installed it its cold water storage is below the shower level.
Proper installation is crucial. You cannot install shower pump directly to a combi boiler and never to a main fed water system. And you use flexible hoses to connect the incoming and outgoing pipes to the pump.
Install the shower pump in a place well ventilated and no obstruction for the air flow in and out of the shower pump. It should be place horizontally with pipe outlets pointing upward. Make sure that your hot water tank has a thermostat to maintain the temperature to a maximum 65C. If the temperature becomes higher, it can result to cavitations.
Proper care and maintenance of shower pump:
- Make sure that the shower pump is placed accessibly for easy reach and maintenance.
- Needs to clean the surrounding to prevent debris to block or get stuck to the shower pump.
- Clean the shower pump at least once a month.
Those are the things you need to remember when using and maintaining proper care for your shower pump. You have several options on where to install your shower pump. You can either install them in your main bathroom or maybe you have a shower wet room in the house. Most importantly, make sure you keep in mind that shower pumps use up a lot of water. But if you are after a good shower experience, then that won’t be a concern.
