Reviewing Your Cover Regularly Can Save You Money On House Insurance Premiums 0
Not a lot of homeowners know that by reviewing their cover regularly can save them money on house insurance premiums.
Property owners should always review their home insurance and the value of their contents and personal possessions on a regular basis. You only have to do this once a year when you house insurance quotation is ready for renewal. So before you get a quote make sure that you re-evaluate the value of your contents to you are not paying for extra cover that you don’t require anymore. This can also be said for being under insured too, if you have bought new furniture or any expensive jewellery then you will need to add these items onto your insurance policy, so that the insurance company know about these items.
So what items do you need to look at that are on your home contents insurance policy? Well you should check the value of all items and total them up and make sure you have adequate cover for everything. Most insurance companies offer contents cover up to £50,000 as standard but if you have a large house then you may need more or a smaller house you may need less. So just add up the value of all your clothes, furniture, jewellery, electronic items and any other items that are of high value. This way you will get a good idea of the cost of replacing these items rather than just guessing and over valuing the costs massively. It will not take long to do it; just a rough estimate is all that is needed to give you an idea of replacing these items.
Getting a security alarm is another great way to stop your contents being stolen by burglars so make sure you have one installed in your home. Policyholders that have a security alarm can also achieve more saving off the price of their household premium of up to 5%.
