Roll Up Awnings For RVs 0

Apr29

If you have an RV then you will want a canvas awning on it. They come in different colors and patterns so they will match your RV. These are also great to sit under and store articles to keep out of the rain but it is definitely recommended to roll the awning up in high winds or use hurricane straps. You can even buy screens to hook to them so you can be comfortable and keep bugs and any little critters out that might try to visit you as you camp.

Most RVs come equipped with an awning but after years of wear and tear you will probably have to purchase a new one. They do vary in prices according to what size you need and also what type of material you want. I would also recommend getting a roller mount–this is a small wheel that mounts to the outside of the door so the roller protects it.

Maintenance is actually fairly straightforward. You will also want to clean your roll up awning at least two times per month and especially right before storing for the winter by spraying it down with a garden hose and keeping the underside clean by simply brushing with a clean household broom. With proper care, you can usually expect them to last at least 7-10 years. If it is regularly in direct sunlight, in contact with tree sap, or even over a grill then you should expect that the amount of time before having to repair or purchase another one may actually be much shorter.

It is also a good idea to slant the awning if it rains; this will make sure all the weight is not building up in the middle of it.  Water is heavier than it looks and a small build up could easily stretch out the awning.

So go ahead and enjoy sitting under your awning on a hot summer day because it is known that it can reduce the temperature by 8 to 15 degrees.
