Increasing your Vertical Jump by Skipping 0

Dec15

So it would look funny for basketball stars like Dennis Rodman to be caught skipping while in public, right? Right, but that is for someone who does not know what they are aiming for. In order for basketball starts to increase or maintain their vertical jump, it is important that they continuously keep their lower body muscles in top shape. It will not only help them in jumping higher, it will also make them move better, run faster and improve their overall basketball performance. Skipping, like jump rope and other jumping workouts, will help them achieve this.

Skipping may look girly and childish but it is actually one of the best exercises you can do to improve your overall body strength and your bodily coordination. It might not be like hardcore plyometric workouts but it is actually effective in increasing your jump. It focuses on the lower body muscles but, like other cardiovascular exercises such as jogging, it also promotes a stronger and healthier overall body. It helps in improving and strengthening twitch muscles, making footwork and response time faster considerably. This also aides in promoting a stronger calf muscle which is essential in sprinting higher. If you have a more rigid vertical jump training, you can do skipping as your warm up exercise. Do it in easy strides so your muscles would be ready for the more strenuous training you will undergo. You can also do this during the days when you are resting from your rigorous training. Skipping will burn more calories and firm more muscles than regular jogging as it requires muscle control and proper timing.

You might think that skipping is just for little girls holding their dolls. What you don’t know is that skipping is for big boys holding their basketball trophies, too. So if you want to have your own trophy, start your vertical jump training now and skip your way to fame in the hard court.
