Functional Condo Interior Design 0

Some people enjoy being alone in the solitude of a home away from the hustle and bustle of the city.  A nice quiet place suits them just fine and they are happy to enjoy living in their own little solitary space.  For others, this is a nightmare scenario.  Their souls cry for the excitement of the city and they long to be in the middle of the action.  They live their lives looking for the newest adventure they can take on.  For them, living away from where everything is happening is just not an option.

It is this latter group that usually finds themselves attracted to the though of living in a big city.  The constant motion of people going to work or some important social event is what they thrive on.  The trade off they often must make for living at the center of attention, is often the available living quarters they have to choose from.  A popular option today is condo living.  Condominiums can be simple or quite luxurious.  For many people living in the city, being on the cutting edge of interior design is the only real option.

Unless you have unlimited funds with which to acquire the most exclusive of condos, you may need to do a bit of work to make the most of your condo interior design.  Limited space is definitely a consideration.  One way that people have found to get around this obstacle is to consolidate the various sections of their living area into multi-functional spaces.  This can go a long way toward giving the impression that there is more living area than actually exists.  One simple change or adaptation that can be made is to use furniture which divides areas of the condo, but actually serves two purposes.  For example,a kitchen nook bar area might serve its purpose for people eating breakfast in the morning, but later in the day could serve as a sort of high table for people watching television in the adjacent room.  This of course is just one simple example.  With a bit of practice and a keen eye, you can learn to use the best of contemporary interior design ideas to get the most out of your home living space.

Use Vintage Door Knobs To Compliment Your Interior Design 0

If you’ve spent time, effort, and money making sure that your home is decorated just right, it doesn’t make much sense to skip the door knobs, like many people do. They are so easy to replace, as well as affordable, they should never be glossed over in your home design plans. Using vintage door knobs is the perfect way to get old school style and save money in the process.

A vintage door knob is just about any style of knob that is older than 15-20 years, and looks different than the current styles. There hasn’t been much variation in door knob style in the last decade or so, so you will be able to find some designs that are much more stylish than the ones that you currently have.

After you have a pretty good idea of what the style of your home is, it’s not too tough to go out and find the door knobs to match. The key decision to make before you go shopping is whether or not you want all of your knobs to match each other, or not. They don’t have to, and there isn’t any sort of interior design rule that says they should! I’ve seen homes that pick out door knobs that match the room that the door leads in to, which is very stylish. Another benefit of doing this is that you can save a lot of money by buying the one off door knobs at second hand and antique stores.

Even if your home has a very modern style, there are still some vintage knobs that will fit. Clean and simple crystal door knobs will match any style out there. The key is to be very picky, and only buy what is going to fit perfect in your home, there are a lot of choices out there so you don’t have to compromise!
