How to Choose the Right Kids Rugs for Your Home 0

Mar26

Choosing kids rugs for your home may seem like a fun experience, but once you see all the available choices, you may feel a bit overwhelmed. First think about how and where your child’s rug will be used, such as in a bedroom, playroom or family room. Also think about whether you are using the rug to create a play area or simply adding it for safety reasons, such as in a slippery bathroom or on a hardwood bedroom floor.

Kids rugs are broken down into different categories. Play rugs are used for play areas, drawing kids into one central location. Play rugs are usually bright, colorful and soft, and feature cute little designs. Educational rugs are also bright and colorful, yet include educational materials, such as letters and numbers, on the rug. Primarily used in such places as preschool classrooms and day care centers, homes too, can benefit from these kid-friendly additions.

While rugs for kids are certainly cute and vibrant, having a multi-purpose room where both the kids and adults hang out may benefit from something less colorful. Instead, opt for neutral colors that will blend in well with the rest of the room. Or, choose rugs that have a contemporary style, yet draw in kids colors, such as pink, purple, and blue hues.

Don’t forget about the shape and size of your child’s rug, as there are many to choose from that will complement the size of your room. If you are using the rug to create a play area, make sure the rug is large enough to welcome child’s play. Also keep furniture off the rug so that it does not obstruct playtime. Bathrooms and bedrooms will benefit from smaller rugs that have non-skid bottoms that keep the rugs in place. For a real treat, opt for kids rugs that are shaped as animals or a favorite cartoon character.
