Puppies, whether pedigree or cross breeds, need an awful lot of care and Labrador puppies are no exception. So what is involved in Labrador puppy care?

A multitude of tasks, actually. Plus lots and lots of time. Taking on a puppy is not something anyone should do lightly. Puppies need to be watered and fed on a regular basis. They need to be toilet trained and exercised several times a day in a safe, clean environment. They need socialisation, grooming and regular veterinary care

Before even choosing a pedigree puppy, it is a good idea to ask to meet the mother, because if she is timid and nervous, then her puppies are also likely to be. Whereas a happy, extravert mother will produce puppies of a similar temperament.

The Dawg’s Biscuits is a company specialising in natural dog treats.

These treats are based on traditional health remedies and dogs love them, say the manufacturers.

Dawganic dog treats they claim, have a unique health benefit in that they are great for calming stressed dogs and puppies. Labrador puppies lap them up.

The biscuits are made without artificial additives or preservatives and come in a variety of shapes and flavours so are an idea adjunct to food for Labrador puppies.

Calm Dawg was introduced in 2003 and soon proved a best-seller. Made from chamomile and banana it is ideal to calm and settle the stressed dog. Its mild ginger content can also help with travel sickness.

Scratchbuster is a skin conditioner which helps ease dry skin, hot spots and areas which have become sore and inflamed as a result of flea bites. It contains yeast and garlic.

Good Dawg, a bone-shaped treat, is great for training and also as a snack for smaller dogs.

Fab Fangs is a large tooth-cleaning treat. It comes in a hard and crunchy bone shape and is aimed at building healthy teeth and gums.
