Closet furniture isn’t the most riveting subject in the world unless you are the type of person who gets excited imagining how organization equals simplicity and increase in productivity in your life. It sounds funny to phrase it in such a way but a lot of times, a messy closet is indicative of messiness in general, and there’s something to be said about organizing your life from the ground up, starting with those areas where we general let things go – the closet, the garage, and attic.
While I’ll leave it to another article to address storage furniture for the garage and attic, I do want to get into closet storage by talking about my favorite closet furniture.
For starters, let’s get probably the best piece of closet furniture out on the table – the armoire. This is the king when it comes to talking about closet furniture. Specifically, I’m talking about the wardrobe closet armoire. These free standing, solid wood wardrobes look fantastic and will cost you a pretty penny. If you can find the budget to afford them, you won’t regret it.
Moving down the cost scale, my favorite types of closet furniture probably can be reduced to these three simple items. Don’t laugh if you think they’re two simple. Remember, simplicity and organization go hand in hand?
1. Attachable closet shelves from Rubbermaid. These shelves takes abotu 2 seconds to fasten to your closet rod and give you two full sized shelves, and you can even hang hangers from them too. They cost under $30. I love how quick and easy this option is, don’t you?
2. Portable closets from Honey Can Do. Honey Can Do make these great portable closet units for about $50. They have wheels and weigh just a few pounds and are easy to manuever. Another convenient yet cheap option for closet furniture, don’t you think?
3. Expandable closet kits from Rubbermaid. Rubbermaid make awesome closet furniture – so much that they get on this list twice! The expandable closet kits are a snap to install and most importantly, allow you to add more shelves and storage space easily just by buying the expansion sets.
If you’re closet is a mess, consider what we talked about here. It’s not hard to get things organized by just using something as simple as an extra shelf or a closet kit. If more work than that is needed, buying a stand alone armoire or portable closet will give you a ton of space to work with!
